Can you believe it’s February already?!?! January seemed to fly by and with February being a shorter month than others, I’m sure it will seem like the blink of an eye and I’ll be preparing for spring. It appears that we can’t say goodbye to the snowy weather just yet. As a reminder, our Inclement Weather Policy is: If Tipton Community Schools are cancelled, our Club will be closed for the day. If they dismiss early, as long as lunch has been served, our Club will be open. On days where there is a 2-hour delay, our Club will operate under normal Club hours. February is a fun month for our organization. We conduct our Annual Meeting and hold the Heart of the Community Awards Ceremony, recognizing several of our sponsors and supporters of 2014. We also begin Phase Two of our annual fundraising campaign IT JUST TAKES ONE. The three phases of this campaign are:

1. Family Phase- Board Member giving, in which we had 100% participation by the Board in 2014

2. Flooring Phase- Board Members pursue donors and prospects

3. Friends Phase- Mailings to community members

We are also currently running our Annual Business Sponsorship Plan, where various levels of sponsorship are available. If you are interested in or would like more information about this, or you might know someone that is, please contact the club offices @ 675-9362. As our average daily attendance continues to grow and we continue to use more of the facility, it is vital that we have the support of our families, friends, and community. It’s our heart’s desire to continue to offer a safe, encouraging and fun environment at our Club. Great Futures Start Here due to sponsors and donors that so generously support our Club’s mission.

The Session Three Classes and Programs will conclude on February 6th and we will begin our Session 4 Classes and Programs on Monday, February 9th. I will be emailing this calendar, but if you’d like a hard copy, please feel free to pick one up from the information table. If you are not on our email list and would like to be added, please see our front desk attendant.

 

We tried out some new programs for Session Three. Great Futures has been a success. We have looked into the world of being a Psychologist, an FBI or CSI investigator, and a veterinarian. We will continue to run this program in the hopes of inspiring and supporting Great Futures! Our LEGO Guys program uses a Lego Education Curriculum and has been a BIG HIT! We are seeing boys that never attend programs head into this program with excitement. Toni has done a wonderful job leading this “boys only” program. Ask your member if he is a part of this new program. We will be trying out some new programs for Session 4 as well. Our Torch Club has sponsored a candy guessing jar. Members were asked to pay $1.00 to make a guess, with the winner receiving the full jar of candy. All proceeds will go towards supporting homelessness. If you would like to make a monetary donation to go towards their fundraising efforts, please see Nick. We will also be taking donations such as hand warmers, toothpaste & toothbrushes, blankets, etc. Our Torch Club members will be assembling care packages to donate to a homeless shelter. Thanks in advance for the help and support you show.

 

Did you know that we are running out of space here at our Club? Did you know that we have over forty middle school members signed up for our Club? IN order to create a space for these members we are currently using one of the banquet rooms on the west hallway of the CW Mount Center. All members in 6th grade and above are given the option to use the banquet room for special programs, supervised by a staff member. As our teen population continues to grow, we ask that all teen members and their parent/guardian sign our newly drafted Teen Code of Conduct form. Teen Tuesdays will continue throughout the month of February. Starting last month, we invited all members 5th grade or older to stay until 7:30 p.m. each Tuesday of the month. We are seeing several of our 5th grade members take advantage of this opportunity to be treated like a young adult. The Teen Scene outing will remain a 6th grade and older trip for the remainder of the programming year. On Friday, February 13th from 6-11:30 pm our teen members will be traveling to Sky Zone in Fishers. Members interested in attending this trip will need to be signed up by a parent or guardian. It is a first come, first served trip, as we can only transport 13 members in the van. We ask that those attending bring $5.00 if you have the Sky Zone socks, and $7.00 if you do not. We will cover the remainder of the cost for the evening, and we will feed these members dinner here at the Club.
